Field Trip

We joined some friends/cousins for a homeschool field trip to the Athens Water Plant. We learned all about water collection, distribution, and treatment. It was a very cool field trip. Here the kids were doing an activity about ground water and pollutants.

Baby J helping out.
K and cousin C working together.The gang's all here.
My friend Kat holding the baby. Better not do that too much people...must be contagious. We found out shortly after this that she is pregnant!
Here the kids learned all about water pipes and connectors. They had lots of fun at this station.
Baby K wasn't into the water pipe thing!
Here the kids were able to look at the bacteria, etc. in the untreated water.

We looked at critters the water specialists found in the post treated water being released into the creek. Certain critters are indicators of clean water. They are holding crayfish (known as crawdads to us folk).
Here the water personnel explain in detail the water treatment process to Baby K. He was enthralled!
