Need I say anything?
"Its stock barn time. What time you say? Well, you see, we have this really crazy mama who grew up on a farm and LOVES that whole farm thing, so she has encouraged us to embrace the rural life, and yes, we have fallen for it and actually enjoy it too. So this crazy mama found a stock barn about 35 minutes from our home and well, here we are on our way to go watch some cattle be auctioned off. Sound like a good time? Well, you really should broaden your horizons a bit. A little culture is good for everybody, or at least that is what she keeps telling us."
This is our rough and tough cattle face.
Stock barn here we come!
Area where auctioning occurs. For anyone who has never had the privilege, allow me to explain. Cattle are kept in pens outside. They are brought in by groups to the below area. The auctioneer and a book-keeper sit in the box and the auctioneer rattles off numbers faster than you can say yippe-ki-yay. The buyers/sellers/really-weird-people-coming-just-for-the-fun-of-it-with-her three-kids-in-tow sit in the stadium seats (rather dusty and a bit smelly for anyone with uncultured senses) and bid on the cattle if interested. The weight as well as the final price are put up on the screen above the auctioneers head. This goes on for several hours depending on how many cattle are for sale.
Here are some of the cows as they are about to enter the "arena" area to be sold.
This particular stock yard is large enough that they used horses for moving the cattle to and from the pens.
Okay guys, its try-to-feed-the-baby-real-food-time. Everyone gather round so we can watch her get rice cereal all over her face. (You should know by now that we do EVERY thing together. *grin*)
"You expect me to CHEW something before I swallow?!?! You have got to be kidding. I have a perfectly good system going and I am NOT about to change. I cry a little, sometimes only stick my hand in my mouth and act like I am going to suck it off, and here comes mama with those nice plump things that she shoves in my mouth. You think I am going to give THAT up for something called RICE cereal which if my sources are right, I would actually have to chew and THEN swallow. Yeah, think again, buddy!"
"Yeah, did I mention, this is NOT my idea of fast food! Really, don't you think I should just be allowed that all natural stuff that you just drink. This is WAY too much work."
The babes and the dad went shopping together and surprised me with these lovely roses. J announced that the red ones were for my love and the yellow ones were because I am like the sunshine. Is that the sweetest thing in the world or what? (I thought the dad had helped her come up with such sweet words, but he later told me that she came up with that completely on her own. Yes, like any good mom, I burst into tears.)
J brought me flowers, and K made a monster/spider/thingy for me...we are still working on his wooing techniques.
"Look at these really cool things I found mom! Every time you take my diaper off, they just fly up into my face. I'm not really sure where they come from, but boy are they fun!"
Ah! What every little girl needs...a good ol' fashioned nap with daddy. (And what every daddy needs too). *grin*
