We took a field trip to a local desert garden that has a wonderful display of many of our interesting critters. Above is a lovely snake with J petting his smooth skin. Below is not one of my favorites (actually probably third least favorite with tics and mosquitoes being one and two - I HATE tics.) Okay just needed to get that out of my system. Anyway, this crazy man had this HUGE scorpion on his arm and hand like it was a ladybug. EEEWWWWW!!!

I am not certain if my hubby was about to sneeze or if he was in disgust at the scorpion at this moment. Either way, he is adorable and the babes are cute too.

K liked the snakes, but his favorite is a bit further down the page.

J was trying to get closer to those cuddly critters so she could "hug" them. She loves to hug her cat, and I think she thought these things looked pretty cute too.

A nice little coachwhip. Amazing creatures by our great Creator, but I still don't want them for a pet.

Ah, yes, K's favorite. Here we see the venomous Gila monster (pronounced hee-la). K thought the "poison lizard", as he called it, was really cool. Yep, cool...from way up on my seat without any chance of that thing getting near me or my kids. Cool!

Another desert friend. A corn snake is good to have around (according to these guys). They can keep your rat population in control. (Don't tell them, but so do rat traps! *grin*)

J and her friend touching another neat reptile.
