Yes, they are just as adorable as they look. My parents have over 60 cattle on their farm who will have their calves over the next few months. The first calf was born on October 24 and by the time we left, 15 calves had been born (now that is some serious work for two bulls, hehehe).
Once the calves are born, we round up the baby and mom and move them to another pasture. This is done so that the newborns are easily kept track of. We also tag the babies and castrate the males. My parents are beef cattle farmers so steers are the desired calf at selling time. The females are kept as replacement heifers to replace any older cows that have to be sold throughout the year. At present, there are 10 replacement heifers on the farm and these will be added to the herd in the spring when the bulls are put back with the herd to do their work. Our farm has Black Angus cattle and Charlais (the white ones.)
Don't tell him otherwise....he thinks he is rounding up the cows this way.
